Abstract

In order to identify the genera of goat and sheep gastrointestinal strongyles in four localities of the Waco-Cungo municipality, CuanzaSul province, Angola, stool samples of these species were collected directly from the rectal ampulla. The samples were transported in thermal boxes with ice and co-cultures were carried out to obtain the L3 larvae, which were identified by their morphological characteristics. Mixed infections were detected in both species of the four locations. L3 larvae of Haemonchus (81 %), Oesophagostomum (10 %), Trichostrongylus (5 %), and Ostertagia (4%) were identified in goats; while Haemonchus (70 %), Ostertagia (11 %), Trichostrongylus (10 %), and Oesophagostomum (9 %) were identified in sheep.
