Abstract

The objective of this work was to identify the speciments of the mealy bugs affecting plants of the potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) cultivars 'Atlas' and 'Rudolf' in the experimental plots of the Instituto de Investigaciones de Viandas Tropicales in the Province of Villa Clara, Cuba. These insects, distributed on stems and roots of the plants causing foliage chlorosis and root rot, were collected and taken to the Laboratory of Entomology of the Centro Nacional de Sanidad Agropecuaria to be studied. They were identified within the genus Pseudococcus and their presence in this province was reported for the first time.
