Abstract

White ginger lily (Hedychium coronarium K.), the Cuban national flower, has been affected by pests in some
farms in Havana. The plants showed necrotic areas in leaves and inflorescences. Several samples were analyzed
in the Mycology Laboratory at the National Center for Plant and Animal Health (CENSA) in search of the causes.
Botrytis spp., Fusarium spp. and Rhizotocnia solani Kühn were found in the inflorescences, meanwhile Colletotrichum
gloeosporioides (Penz), Botrytis spp. and R. solani were observed in the leaves. The studies will be continued in
order to complete the diagnosis and to determine the appropriate management measures.
