Abstract

The objective of the present investigation was to determine the biological effectiveness of Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner and Heterorhabditisindica Poinar on larvae of Davaracaricae Dyarunder field conditions. The experiment was carried out in papaya (Carica papaya L.) plantations of the Research Institute of Tropical Roots and Tuber Crop. Twenty plants of the variety Maradol Roja in stage of fructification were randomly selected per treatment. After two days of application, significant differences were observed with H. indica and B. thuringiensis regarding the control. At the third and fourth day, the lowest number of live larvae was quantified in both treatments. The highest values of biological effectiveness were reached four days after the applications, 93% with H. indica and 79.56% with B. thuringiensis. The two entomopathogens showed biological effectiveness higher than 50 % seven days after the application.

Keywords: biological control, entomopathogens, Davaracaricae.
